The Editing Toolset

The Editing Toolset contains functions that pertain to general editing of a document. These functions apply to most file types.

1.     Paste (CTRL + V)

The Paste function pastes the data on the clipboard to the cursor position. The arrow beneath the button indicates that the function has a pop-up menu. The Paste functions insert data from the Windows clipboard into the active edit window. To use the Paste function, press the Paste button in the Clipboard Toolset of the Edit Ribbon or press the quick key CTRL + V. The Paste function is also available on most edit window pop-up menus. If data on the clipboard is of the same type as the current edit window, it will be inserted into the file.

For documents, data from the clipboard is inserted at the current cursor position.

For images, data from the clipboard will be inserted in the upper left corner of the image. Right after the Paste, the selection box will still remain around the data to allow you to easily move it around. After you have moved the data to your desired location, de-select it to permanently merge it into the image.

  1. Cut (CTRL + X)

The Cut function cuts selected data to the clipboard. The Cut function cuts data to the clipboard. Data sent to the clipboard in this manner will be removed from its current location in the file. Data on the clipboard can be inserted at a different location in an edit window using the Paste function.

To use the Cut function, select the desired data in the edit window. Any type of data can be sent to the clipboard using the Cut function, including image data. After the data is selected, click the Cut button on the Edit Ribbon or use the quick keys CTRL + X. The Cut function is also accessible on some pop-up menus.

When image data exists on the Clipboard, please note that creating a new image file will automatically populate the Width and Height fields on the New Image dialog with the dimensions of the cut data.

3.     Copy (CTRL + C)

The Copy function copies selected data to the clipboard. Data sent to the clipboard in this manner will remain in its current position; only a copy of it will be made to the clipboard. Data on the clipboard can be inserted at a different location in an edit window using the Paste function.

To use the Copy function, select the desired data in the edit window. Any type of data can be sent to the clipboard using the Copy, including image data. After the data is selected, click the Copy button on the Edit Ribbon or use the quick keys CTRL + C. The Copy function is also accessible on some pop-up menus.
