You have to edit the notes in Word prior to importing it into SmartXBRL (you cannot edit notes directly in SmartXBRL).
If you do not want to modify the source Word document, you can create a new Word document containing the revised notes that you can add later to your filing. Use the “Add Document” button under the "Action" menu in SmartXBRL to add the document. When you generate the XBRL, check the boxes to include those new documents that you uploaded earlier, and uncheck the old notes in the source document that you are replacing.
The steps to add new notes to a filing are the same as adding new tables. Please refer to how to add additional tables for more information.
