Entering Data into EDGAR Submission View

Many of the fields in EDGAR Submission View can be treated exactly as cells in a typical spreadsheet application. Data is entered by moving the selector to that field, keying in the data and pressing the ‘Enter key, or moving the cell selector via the mouse or keyboard to save the data that was typed into the field.

As you enter data into most data fields, the status bar will display the number of characters that are being used out of the maximum number of characters allowed for that field. If there are more characters typed into the field than are allowed, this text will appear in red. Text entered into fields that has a character length longer than is allowed will be truncated to the maximum number of characters for that field when the file is saved. If you enter data that exceeds the maximum character limit, a warning will appear.

There are special data cells that function differently than the text areas in EDGAR Submission View. These cells include checkboxes, radio buttons and drop-down lists. These types of cells function exactly as they would if they appeared on a dialog. To choose an item from a drop-down list contained in a cell, click the arrow button on the list and choose the desired entry. To check or uncheck a checkbox cell, click on the cell. To select a radio button, click on the cell.

Labels in EDGAR Submission View can never be changed. These cells are marked as ‘Read-Only’ and cannot be altered. Labels appear in a gray-blue font color.

(See SEC EDGAR Filing Agent Settings for information on setting the Filing Agent CIK, CCC, or Password under EDGAR in the Application Settings.)
